Update 08/01/2022
Takota saw the vet on 07/07/2022 because he kept getting diarrhea and he started to lose weight.
We did a CBS Chemistry blood work on him and it showed that he was low on red blood cells so we started him on a vitamin-iron-mineral supplement. He's gained the weight back he lost and is doing well. He's very happy just hanging out with his herd wandering across the big fields.
His vet bill was $140. Any small donation towards this cost would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
Update 01/02/2022
Takota settled in nicely and he found love! Zoe and him are totally into each other and sharing a pasture together. He makes sure to never leave her out of sight. It's too cute to watch.
Takota's blood test for Cushing came back positive so we started him on Prascend. Unfortunately, he did not do well on it so we had to stop giving it to him. He had diarrhea so bad but it is getting better again. The biggest concern leaving Cushing untreated is that a horse might get laminitis. Yesterday we started him on Heiro which is a plant based supplement and we have achieved great results with it before. At least there are no side effects to it. At some point we might also put him on NRF2. Given all these facts and taking his age into account we decided that Takota can stay here and enjoy the rest of his life and enjoy his new found love.
