This sweet little mare was sitting in a Michigan kill pen getting ready to be shipped to Mexico.
We paid her bail on 10/23/2021. She was supposed to ship the next day in the morning but instead heading to such an awful end, she arrived here safely. Supposedly came off an Amish farm. We decided to call her Billie Jean aka BJ.
Today the vet came out and we did an SAA which was 0 so she got fully vaccinated. BJ is probably 18-20 years old. Billie Jean also needs her dentals floated and her knees x-rayed. This will be done on our next big vet appointment on November 8th.
After she arrived she got cleaned up. It took over an hour to get her mane untangled. Her tail was a hot mess, too. Unfortunately, after spending hours trying to untangle it I ended up cutting most of it out.
Bj is such a sweet mare. Manners for days. Now she just needs to finish her 14 days of quarantine and then she can make some new friends. It's time for her to just get a whole lot of TLC and lots of good groceries.
